About 40 people attended, including former Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, political leaders of relevant departments and major political parties, Chinese-funded institutions, and representatives of the overseas Chinese community.
Ambassador Zeng Fanhua introduced the historical context of the Taiwan issue, emphasizing that the one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community, and UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 cannot be distorted or challenged. Papua New Guinea has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle and built a solid political foundation for bilateral relations and practical cooperation. We look forward to the two sides continuing to firmly support each other and achieve higher-level and higher-quality development of bilateral relations.
PNG Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Wohengu sent a written speech, reiterating that PNG firmly adheres to the one-China policy, insists that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. It firmly opposes "Taiwan independence" and supports all efforts made by the Government of the People's Republic of China to achieve national reunification.
Former Papua New Guinea Deputy Prime Minister Avi, who had participated in the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Papua New Guinea, and other people from all walks of life at the meeting reviewed the original intention of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Papua New Guinea, saying that Papua New Guinea has always clearly pursued the one-China policy, admired China's achievements in modernization, thanked China for its sincere help in Papua New Guinea's development, and looked forward to greater success in cooperation between the two countries.
