Ambassador Zeng Fanhua attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the new base of the China-aided Juncao Upland Rice Technology Project in Papua New Guinea

On May 21, Ambassador Zeng Fanhua was invited to the Eastern Highlands Province to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the new base of the China-aided Juncao Upland Rice Technology Project in Papua New Guinea. Professor Lin Zhanhui, the inventor of the Juncao technology, Xie Simon, Governor of the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, and representatives of overseas Chinese from Chinese-funded enterprises in Papua New Guinea attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Zeng said that the cooperation on Juncao Upland Rice Technology has become a landmark project of China-Papua New Guinea cooperation. He believes that the opening of the new base will help the project to further develop and grow, better benefit the people of Papua New Guinea, and make greater contributions to the development of relations between the two countries.

Professor Lin Zhanhui introduced the project's landing in the Eastern Highlands and its development prospects, and said that with the personal care and promotion of President Xi Jinping and the support of the two governments, the China-Papua New Guinea Juncao Upland Rice Cooperation, as China's first foreign aid Juncao technology demonstration project, has become a model for promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The new base will open up broader development prospects for this project and bring better economic and social benefits to Papua New Guinea.

Simon Xie thanked the Chinese government for its long-term support and said that the China-aided Juncao Upland Rice Project in Papua New Guinea has greatly benefited the local people over the past 20 years. The Eastern Highlands Province and the Papua New Guinea government will continue to fully support the development of the project.
