On July 25, 2024, the Papua New Guinea Overseas Chinese News reported that the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the Sea Park development project, Blue Sea Apartments, was held in Port Moresby. This project will become an important construction project in the urban area of Port Moresby, marking a new era of economic and community development in the region, and will also become a new landmark of Port Moresby. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Yang Xiaoguang, Foreign Minister Tkachenko, Minister of International Trade and Investment Richard Maru, Governor of the Capital Region Powes Parkop, as well as other important figures and investors from all walks of life.

The total investment of the Ocean Park development project is 2.2 billion Kina

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Zhao Xihui, Chairman of Sea Park, said in her speech, "It is a great honor to welcome everyone to the groundbreaking ceremony of the first phase of the Ocean Park development project - Blue Sea Apartments. This project is located in the most advantageous position of Port Moresby, with a total land area of 4.2 hectares. We will build luxury apartments, hotels, shopping centers, serviced apartments, and office towers here.

Mr. Zhao pointed out that the total investment of the Sea Park development project is expected to reach 2.2 billion Kina, which will bring considerable economic benefits and employment opportunities to the local community. Each stage of construction will create a large number of job opportunities, improve the quality of life of residents, and stimulate local economic growth.

New measures to promote economic and social development

Richard Maru, Minister of International Trade and Investment, emphasized the importance of this project in his speech: "This project was once a great idea that stalled in the 1980s. We must decide how to deal with this land and find a place to make it valuable again. We are facing the problem of how to revitalize this land. We are very pleased to be here today to hold the groundbreaking ceremony and promote the implementation of this concept. This is a great solution for our city. With the consultation and support of the national government, this project is not only beneficial to the city, but also to the country. This project will bring a lot of income to our city and attract many visitors.

The changes brought by the project to the community

In his speech, NCDC Governor Powes Parkop reviewed the history of this land and talked about the significance of the project: "We worked hard to build this project, and now we are finally able to start actual construction on Mount Peggy. I congratulate the investors and thank you for your trust in our country and city. This project will create hundreds of job opportunities, enhance the livability of the region, and provide a better environment for living, leisure, and commercial activities

The governor also mentioned that although many people had promised to develop here before, no substantial progress was ultimately made. Nowadays, committed investors bring real construction and development, which will help further promote the development of cities and economies.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Ocean Park development project marks a new development opportunity for Port Moresby. This project will not only provide a higher quality of living environment for local residents, but also promote sustained economic growth in the region. In the next two years, we will see the gradual completion of the first phase of construction and look forward to the second phase of economic beach development bringing more vitality and opportunities to the city.
